This scheme was introduced to provide financial assistance to Government servants, or persons dependent on them, in the following circumstances:
a) Invalidation during service
A gazetted Government servant (BPS-16 and above) was granted Rs. 1,000/- per month, and a non-gazetted employee (BPS-01 to BPS-15) Rs. 500/- per month, for a period of fifteen (15) years from the date of invalidation, provided the employee was invalidated from service on medical grounds.
b) Death during service
The widow / dependants of a gazetted employee were granted Rs. 1,000/- per month, and those of a non-gazetted employee Rs. 500/- per month, for a period of fifteen (15) years from the date of death.
c) Death after retirement
The widow / dependants of a gazetted employee were granted Rs. 1,000/- per month, and those of a non-gazetted employee Rs. 500/- per month, for the un-availed period, in the event of death occurring within 15 years of retirement.
